The Lockheed Martin F-35A, the version that will be flown by the U.S. Air Force and most allies, dropped its first air-to-ground weapon yesterday during a test flight. The 2,000-pound GBU-31 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) was released over the China Lake test range in California from the jet’s left internal weapons bay, Lockheed said in an Oct. 17 statement.
