V-22, Still Seeking a Fix for Engine Grit

By JOHN REED, FARNBOROUGH, UK – Boeing is still working to improve the V-22 Osprey to keep dust, dirt and other debris out of the tilt-rotor’s engines.

By TOM KINGTON, FARNBOROUGH, UK – The Italian M-346 jet trainer will be built from scratch in the United States with 70 percent U.S. content if it wins the USAF competition to replace the T-38 trainer, an official said at the Farnborough Air Show on July 21.

By JOHN REED, FARNBOROUGH, UK – FARNBOROUGH, UK – Raytheon officials here revealed that the company is working on tiny active electronically scanned array (AESA) radars that can be woven into the skin of aircraft or even missiles.

By PIERRE TRAN, FARNBOROUGH, UK – ThalesRaytheonSystems, a 50/50 joint venture between Thales and Raytheon, is a bidder in a competition held by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a battle management command-and-control system intended to run a planned integrated air and missile defense, an executive familiar with the talks said at the Farnborough air show.
