Saudis To Purchase Recon Pods for F-15s

The Saudi Air Force plans to fit Goodrich’s DB-110 airborne reconnaissance system as part of its F-15S fleet modernization program.
The company announced July 10 it had received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to supply reconnaissance pods and related ground stations as part of a foreign military sales deal.
Ten dual-band pods are being produced by the company’s Westford, Mass., plant while five fixed, transportable ground stations are coming from Goodrich’s Malvern facility in the U.K.
The Saudis will be the first F-15 user to fit the pod and joins the United Arab Emirates as a DB-110 operator in the region.
The Gulf state announced that it was buying the pod for use on it’ F-16s at the last IDEX defense show in 2011.
The DB-110 captures images day and night using electro-optical/infrared sensor technology.
