BAE Systems officials issued a confident challenge to General Dynamics as they go head to head in the UK’s Future Rapid Effects System Specialist Vehicle (FRES SV) competition.
“We are stronger in the tracked medium armour segment and we have already beaten them in Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands,” said Arne Berglund, BAE sales director, at the DSEi 2009 show in London.
BAE is offering a variant on its CV9035 Mk III as the new armoured scout vehicle for the British Army. It will submit its bid on November 5 and is planning live fire demonstrations later this year, with a downselect by the UK government expected by year end.
The company has invested £25 million on both upgrading its CV9035 for the FRES offer on its offer for the UK Warrior vehicle upgrade.
General Dynamics is scheduled to discuss its offering in the FRES competition, the ASCOD tracked vehicle, on Wednesday at DSEi.
